The Socionext programs can be adapted to various levels, environments and proficiencies, while remaining impactful. The program has been run successfully with deep rural communities with very few resources all the way up to university students in urban areas.
Since 2014 Socionext has implemented its programs with more than 3 000 participants in rural, semi-rural and peri-urban communities across South Africa.
Our programs are well suited for bottom-up, grassroots transformation in regions where the youth face immense challenges and have few other opportunities or resources.

Our programs work well where the work is needed most. For households at the poverty line, a small business can be the difference in putting food on the table or keeping the lights on till month end.
Our research shows that when there is an entrepreneur in the household, this has a significant impact on the household income and on alleviating poverty vulnerability.
We find that households with an entrepreneur have on average 2 x the per capita income compared to households with no entrepreneur.
