Brick Making
Simple, but effective
Lindokuhle Mkhize attended a 5-day acceleration workshop in 2016. This resulted in a cooperative that makes bricks in Mount Elias, a rural town in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

The bricks are made with manual moulding trays, using sand and water from the business site, and then transported to the nearby communities.
It sounds simple, but it's very effective: they currently employ 5 members, and this generates an estimated monthly income of R 15 000.
Lindokuhle was on our Top 30 list last year, and despite having a difficult year with decreased average turnover he has still demonstrated as solid business model and has continued his success in 2020.
