Shirt Stories
Unique organic shirts that fund scholarships
Shirt stories' unique organic shirts allow people to express their identity and expand social awareness. The profits go directly to providing university scholarships in South Africa for young people.
Shirt Stories is a non-profit organization that provides a platform for artists and graphic designers to express social causes that inspire them. Our unique and organic shirts will allow people to express their identity and expand social awareness. The profits of our shirts go directly to providing scholarships in South Africa supported by Socionext, TSIBA & StudieTrust.
During the start-up weekend the team came up with the idea of creating a sustainable fashion brand incorporating artists work. The team skilfully used Facebook to interact with their potential customers to select which artists work would appear on their T-shirts and tote bags.
They went from idea generation to launching the first collection within four months, during which they built and connected with a community of over 300 supporters. Shirt Stories secured product distribution in retailer Charlie & Mary and Roest and sold over 80 shirts and tote bags.
They collaborated with three young and emerging artists to design ShirtStories first collection. The team successfully generated € 2,300 to cover start up and production costs and secured a profit of €850, to contribute towards a scholarship for a young person in South Africa to attend university.
