Wisani Ngwenya owns We Next Productions, a business specializing in creating video content with an emphasis on storytelling and videography.
Before participating in the program, Wisani’s business lacked a clear specialization, brand identity, or focus. “My business was all over the place”, he admitted. Through the mentorship, Wisani discovered his niche within the videography industry.
He mentioned that some of the most valuable skills he acquired from the programme include marketing, branding, management, financial literacy, and professionalism. “Before the programme, I made money and just spent it, now I have learned accountability for my finances, I have a brand, and I am now able to engage with my clients”, he explained. Wisani used the investment grant to purchase more equipment and saved some funds to purchase a drone at a later stage.
Upon entering the programme, Wisani’s profits have soared since. Wisani also shared that the program not only transformed his business but also had a significant personal impact, instilling in him “the zeal to go out into the world and get what he wants instead of waiting for something to come his way”.
“Socionext and the accelerator Programme is what our entrepreneurs need in our villages in order to bring the best out of them because many young people here have the talent, the vision, and the idea but they stand in a corner waiting for funding to come one day, Socionext is telling us we don’t have to wait for that one day, we can start with what we have and get to the level we want to be. “It’s one programme that young people need to bring the best out of them”.
