Khutso Segodi runs a successful farming business, SGD Enterprise. SGD run a mixed crop farming system (livestock and crops) with a focus on layer birds and chillis.
Many of Khutso’s customers have enquired with him about buying chickens and not just eggs. Noting the demand, Khutso used his grant to invest in a broiler cage to rear meat birds. The new broiler cage can hold 200 birds with a turnaround time of 5 – 6 weeks.
Khutso shares that the biggest change he has seen in his business is his ability to market his products and develop financial plans. He now has clear savings targets linked to his production plans and goals for reinvestment and growth.
